Terrain Classification

The school year has kicked off to a most wonderful start! We are diving right into risk management with planning and operations. Finally, the moment I have been waiting for; the proper guidelines and standardized approach to the building and creation of an Avalanche Terrain Atlas via the essential process of terrain classification. Cataloging the terrain with essential data points to consider along with the historical analysis and identification of specific terrain features and favored ski slopes in the backcountry, BC ski area or future development of forecasting for CDOT. These highly sought after skills have left me very excited for the continued development in the avalanche Science Program and specifically within our course work for my favorite classes; forecasting 2 and Avalanche Safety Operations. Excited to develop theses highly respected skills and processes.
