A core foundation of the Mountain Ambassador Project that was founded with the intention of bridging the gap between the Unknown and Unfamiliarity that entry level enthusiasts' endure with winter sports. These Avalanche Rescue & Awareness clinics allow us to educate the community with experiential learning strategies in real time scenarios, on the snow with enthusiastic educators and excited participants.

Community outreach is always the goal, especially in Colorado where the ski culture is highly connected. Once I found out that I could volunteer at all the great promotional events hosted around the state I was hooked; what a great way to involve my family ( Mama Dukes: pictured center- right ), love of traveling and visiting friends while aiding in the stoke of back- country safety and avalanche forecasting.

Now do your part and get out there and support your local Avalanche Forecast Center.

Copper Mtn. Safety Fest - ASP

I was presented with the opportunity to volunteer for Colorado Mountain College in representing the Avalanche Science Program at Copper Mountain Safety Fest; informing the community about the benefits of joining the program and public demonstrations on the advantages of minimizing vulnerability while traveling in avalanche terrain with an AVABAG— Avalanche Airbag. This allowed us to increase public awareness of safe travel techniques in, near or around avalanche terrain.

Stop by the CMC— ASP event booth and measure a slope angle on our Safety Academy Mountain ( S.A.M. ).

Being tied in with a close group of friends, competitors and peers has allowed all of us to progress the culture of our big mountain free- ride sport. Planning, organizing, hosting and providing a fun and safe platform to bring the regions most premiere riders together for a true grassroots free- ride competitive experience. Accelerating quickly from being a high ranked contender, I assumed the position of Safety Coordinator for all future events. With a strong background in mountain safety and 6 seasons as a member of the National Ski Patrol, I found a need for an avalanche safety program and an emergency operating procedure.
