Avalanche Awareness Workshop - Success!!

Extending beyond the assignment for Avalanche Problems & Types, and hosting a free workshop on Berthoud Pass, CO to introduce safety topics, rescue skills and terrain management skills while utilizing and introducing the Learning Tool that I had developed, proved to be a major success. Teaming up with my industry pro sponsors, including a great deal of support from Ortovox, Zeal Optics and Gaia GPS, we were able to provide a profound learning experience for nearly 40 participants striving to improve their skill sets for BC recreating and Big Mtn. Competition. Using this clinic as an opportunity to refine my learning tool and teaching skills was helpful with positive feedback from students, colleagues, peers as well as my own constructive criticism. Following this event, my partner, Ethan Collett and I conducted an operational debriefing to refine our process and increase the value this has to the BC public. Here’s to next season!
